Hon. Anthony M. Pugliese, Retired

Anthony Pugliese is a former New Jersey Superior Court Judge who served as a member of the judiciary for over 16 years. During his tenure, he served in all divisions including acting as the Conflict Chancery Judge in general equity and probate matters. Judge Pugliese also served as the Presiding Judge of the Civil Division. He has presided over more than 150 trials while on the bench.

While in the Civil Division, Judge Pugliese earned a reputation for always making substantial efforts to resolve litigation whenever the opportunity presented itself. He is known among civil practitioners for making time for attorneys seeking to endeavor in settlement discussions. In addition to the practice of discussing settlement at every case conference, Judge Pugliese also dedicated entire days at different times of the year to meet with willing counsel and their clients for settlement conferences. He is also known for having the unique ability to engage even the most reticent of clients in the settlement process.

During his tenure, Judge Pugliese was also appointed to serve on the Supreme Court Committee on Model Civil Jury Charges, the Supreme Court Special Civil Part Practice Committee and the Vicinage 4 Emergency Preparedness Committee. He also acted as a mentor judge to numerous judges in the Camden County Civil Division and has been a presenter for the ICLE Annual Civil Law Update in Camden County.

Through Pugliese Dispute Resolutions, LLC, Judge Pugliese provides mediation services for a wide range of case types including personal injury, medical negligence, professional negligence, products liability, civil rights, discrimination, employment litigation, contract disputes, business and commercial disputes, real estate matters, chancery matters and probate disputes. Judge Pugliese also provides arbitration services either as a sole arbitrator or as the neutral arbitrator to an arbitration panel in those case types.

While a practicing attorney, Judge Pugliese received an AV rating from Martindale Hubbell. He litigated a diverse range of matters in state and federal courts and acted as counsel to numerous business clients, governmental entities and individuals.

Before his appointment to the bench, Judge Pugliese served the Borough of Audubon, NJ as a School Board Member, Commissioner and Mayor. He also served as a Commissioner to the Delaware River Port Authority and as a member of the Camden County Ethics Board and the Camden County Open Space Committee. He has also served the Audubon School District as a volunteer track and field coach for over 15 years.
